subject: More on UPS issues

"Any ideas, short of inserting a short adapter (I'm thinking, 2-3" of
ribbon cable, w/male and female DB9s) with the "low battery" line
physically severed? JHHL"

I disconnected my UPS cable several years ago and have not had any problems
whatsoever. It was more trouble than it is worth.

Our UPS has an extended runtime on batteries of about 2 hours. The AS400
does fine without that cable.

You should also have a "make before break" transfer switch. Put the UPS on
bypass before playing around with it.
