Y'all

I want to execute a command from a UIM menu item. The action attribute is

ACTION='CMD somecmd parm(''mixed/CASE'')'

I get msg CPD0084:

'MIXED/CASE' not valid for parameter PARM.

So, although I've used double apostrophes, uppercase conversion happens where I don't want it to.

I know that UIM usually does uppercase conversion - it says "as appropriate during the compile process" in the Application Display Programming manual. Does anyone know how to force this to be an inappropriate place to convert to uppercase?

The examples in QUSRTOOL have no explicit examples of using lowercase in a command through an action list item or a menu item. There is a substitution variable, &parms, that takes the contents of the command line, but it is not clear what will happen - wait, I think I may have the answer - at run-time, conversion will not happen, right? So I can use a variable for the parameter value?

BTW, this is actually a *PGM menu - the program does not use a DSPF, it uses a PNLGRP with a menu area. This
