We use Vision's OMS and ODS for HA. It offers a CRC synchronization check
that compares the CRC value of groups of records in the source and target
files. The 'group' of records can even be just one record. We run a
complete CRC sync check of each link we have set up every couple of weeks to
verify our mirroring status. It runs for several days in the background at
a low priority, finds nothing, and makes us feel good.

That function could be duplicated in a user written program if Data Mirror
doesn't provide an equivalent function.

Subject: Consistency checking in HA solutions

Hello,

well, we have a high availibility solution (DataMirror) and the software

offers a possibility to check that all mirrored objects are in sync.
Only problem is that only file/objects attributes are checked (for
example
number of active/deleted records), but not the synchronicity (sp?)
of the data itself. And we have already seen that some of the file
attributes can differ.

What do other HA-Tools offer to check if the data on the backup system
is
a complete mirror of the live system? Are there any tools that can
compare files on different systems?

Regards,

Oliver
