Is your time zone set properly on your iSeries?   To check, do:
DSPSYSVAL QUTCOFFSET

I'm guessing (based on the 5 hour difference) that you're located in the
Eastern timezone which is -0500 (5 hours earlier than Universal Time
Coordinated aka "UTC" or "GMT")

So, if your iSeries has a QUTCOFFSET of 0, the e-mail timestamp would be
5 hours off of normal.
