We use R/Alert for paging and R/Console for the monitoring of message
queues. I don't know the pricing off the top of my head but I'm assuming
it will not be cheaper than the Bytware solution. It's possible that
R/Alert on it's own might be - I don't know but you can get their pricing
pretty easy. Make sure you include any impact for LPAR pricing.

We like R/Alert and R/Console a lot. However, I think a lot of people also
like the Bytware solution for it's capabilities and the fact that it isn't
two products......

If you are looking for something that will monitor message queues and
send pages under certain conditions, I recommend against Robot/Alert.

Robot/Alert is a fine paging package ... but that's all it is. It only
sends pages. It integrates well with the other Robot products, but as a
stand alone system it's kind of lacking.

Mind you, the last time I looked at Robot/Alert was about 7 years ago
... so things might have changed.
