It strikes me that if you let the RPG program open the printer file then it
will be closed if the program ends with *LR on, regardless of whether it is
shared or not.  Perhaps if you opened the printer file explicitly within the
calculations of your first program and then don't close it, (or) don't end
the first program, just exit it without turning on *LR.

I'm guessing but it makes sense to me.
