Rob, I'm sending you off line a small "datos.txt" file with a small table with all hex values.
I created it with a small basic program, when I had some problems with translations too.
You'll notice displaying/printing it
- from a MS/DOS session (TYPE with/without >LPT1)
- from a window (NOTEPAD or WORDPAD)
gives same characters up to X'7E' but totally different ones from X'7F' up to X'FF' due to 128 (old times) or 256 chars utilization.
BUT, in both cases, ASCII vertical bar is (at least in spanish) the same in both cases, X'7C' and shows the same in both environments. You can check your data against this small file.
