Hi Chris,
you have two conventional options for routing interactive sessions
into subsystems, the workstation entries in the subsystem description allow
you to control this by (a) workstation name, or (b) workstation type.

However, as you so rightly say, the initial program is a programatic
option; at it's most simple, a few CL commands could achieve this.

a) Retrieve the user profile (RTVUSRPRF) or the job attributes
(RTVJOBA), then using one of the values retrieved, programatically select
which subsystem they should be using - you could even use a simple counter
(of active interactive jobs), 1 - 100 = QINTER1, 101 - 200 = QINTER2 etc .

b) Each valid interactive subsystem must have a job queue; the job
queue entry in the subsystem description having an appropriate activity
level. I would be inclined to put both Sbs's in the same shared system
pool, *INTERACT perhaps.

c) In the CL, use the TFRJOB command, specify the appropriate JOBQ -
bingo.

The big question is, and only you can answer this, is "do you really want to
do this?".

Kind regards,

Subject: Route jobs to different subsystms

I need to find a way to route a interactive job to a particular subsystem by
the IP interface they come in on, or by the initial program.

Anyone have any suggestions on how to do this, I do not want to use
different Device names for the sessions if possible.
