For convienience, I usually open up a new 5250 window when I use
STRCPYSCN.

Let's say I've got a user on DSP01 whos screen I need to view. I've
already got my own 5250 display as "SCOTT01" and I open up a new 5250
window called "SCOTT02." I leave SCOTT02 sitting on the Sign-On screen.

I issue the following command on my SCOTT01 session:

     STRCPYSCN SRCDEV(DSP01) OUTDEV(SCOTT02)

Now, all of the output from DSP01 gets copied to my SCOTT02 window.
When I'm done viewing things, I go back to my SCOTT01 window and
I type:

     ENDCPYSCN SRCDEV(DSP01)

In the old days (before I had a PC where I could have lots of windows
open) I used to, instead, do my STRCPYSCN to an outfile. Then, I would
watch the outfile, and I could still issue ENDCPYSCN from the same
session, since it didn't take over my display.

Perhaps a better solution to all of this is VNC, which lets you view
another's entire desktop without the need for STRCPYSCN. And, unlike
STRCPYSCN, you aren't one screen behind :)

If you'd like to try VNC (it costs nothing) you can find it here:
