Jim,

This is correct, but IMHO, this was a big wimp out on IBM's part. You need
a new version of SLIC (which you must re-slip) and certain OS/400 PTF's
(which can just be loaded by PTF), to run the new models of the system that
were announced in January.

IBM should have called this V5R2M1, but alternatively chose to cheap out.
This makes about as much sense as a screen door in a submarine.

To determine if your system has feature code 2691 at V5R2, you must perform
the following tests:

DSPPTF LICPGM(5722999) SELECT(RE02343) RLS(V5R2M0)

The following should be shown. Take option 7.

It should show:
                                Symptom strings
 Product ID/PTF ID . . . . . . . . . : 5722999 RE02343
 Release . . . . . . . . . . . . . . : V5R2M0
 Symptom string
 RESAVE MARKER

For the PTF's for OS/400:

DSPPTF LICPGM(5722SS1) SELECT(AP02343) RLS(V5R2M0)

The following should be shown. Take option 7.

                                Symptom strings
 Product ID/PTF ID . . . . . . . . . : 5722SS1 AP02343
 Release . . . . . . . . . . . . . . : V5R2M0

 Symptom string
 RESAVE MARKER SS1 OPTION 0

I just received notification that IBM has reshipped all of the Licensed
Internal code (V5R2) marked RSC and updated the SLIC level to RSD. If you
are planning an upgrade soon, you may wish to get the new version. I have
not had problems with RSC, but there are several reports of issues.
