Hi Ken,

Take a look at the results of NETSTAT *CNN.  You should see things like
'netbios' and 'cifs'.  These are the MS Network Neighborhood services at
work.  If you are still not seeing the shares via browsing, check the domain
name of the Net Server and maybe enter something the the WINS server area.

same domain/workgroup... What worries me is that I don't see ANYTHING, let
alone the particular server/directory I want to work with...

Ken,

I would start by verifying that the external server has the appropriate
directory shared.  Then check that the user profile on the AS/400 matches
something on the external server or that public has appropriate
authorities.  While you may need to tinker with profiles later, it makes
sense to me to create someone with explicit authority for testing.

Also, do your domain/workgroup names match between NetServer and the
external server?
