Advertising the iSeries at/in an iSeries conference/magazine is not marketing.
We already know it is a great box. I for one would like to see a tv commercial
dedicated to the iSeries. It should then be aired it in the middle of shows such
as "Buffy the Vampire Slayer"(too bad it is gone now). What better way is there
to get the next generation of IT programmers/managers thinking/wondering about
the iSeries.

Sure, the iSeries is a great machine. So is the xSeries, the zSeries, and the pSeries. As we've all seen, there is IBM advertising on TV. Personally, I think the ad where a manager brings a police officer into an empty machine room is great, and really promotes the IBM brand name well. That kind of ad is perfect for TV.

If you're selling the IBM name to the general audience, you want to promote the name. When someone needs IT services, they'll then know to call IBM, and then the IBM rep can sell the services the customer needs. That may involve a piece of iSeries hardware, but it may involve other kinds of hardware or service. These days, you sell solutions, not boxes.

Cheers! Hans
