Don't know why we took damage, but is you set QUPSDLYTIM and do not set QUPSMSGQ, you get an abnormal termination. RCLSTG for each partition, and GO SAVE 21, and we're fixed. She started to get on the subway the day of the outage and said that for some reason she decided not to, and as she was coming back up, the power died. Then she ran into a friend and her boyfriend ! In a city that size; unreal. Was definitely a God thing :-) She is STILL trying to get home and is now to fly out Sunday evening. They called LaGuardia Friday and the airline said everything was fine, come on out... They get there and business folks are laying around in suits, other folks are half naked trying to keep cool, lights are out, no general power, no air-conditioning, no ATM machines, no one will take credit cards or debit cards or cash a check. Then the airline tells them that they can fly if they only have carry on luggage and they will NOT forward any check in luggage. She was scared, frustrated, starving and near tears when she called us. So they went back to where they had been staying. Good ole airlines; everyone understands that there was a HUGE problem and all were very understanding but rather than be truthful, the airlines lie. Customer Service is none existent for them... Would probably have gone with someone else (actually guarantee you that) but their "discount" on our production software package gets a "really good" discount if we go with them and I was unsuccessful in convincing the powers that be to seriously entertain others... I can't IMAGINE what it would be like for an upgrade... We are TOTALLY swapping out a 620 with an 810 LPAR'd. Our BP filled out the "what ever it is called" work sheet or what ever that IBM wants them to do and it gets OK'd I guess. Then the system comes in (it did this week) and there is NOTHING but LIC on it. And as you note Al, the cards weren't in the correct slots, etc. You would THINK that there would be some correlation between the config sheet and what you get in... Nope. This all was news to me. I understood there would be some work to do with LPAR but had no idea drives had to be added, RAID'd, etc. Had am individual I know that had been to LPAR school tell me that when this was brought up in class (watch the card placement mess) the instructor noted "these things are designed by PHD's and assembled by folks with high school diplomas... Of course this is good for IGS... This has very specific hardware requirements, and is generally more difficult to configure and install. IBM does not build the system properly, you need to swap around parts. This is particularly true if you are going to upgrade an existing system.
