Hans, that will be true in the US as well. One thing that will be
interesting is when the engineers finally figure out what happened, how the
relationship between the US and Canada fairs. It's already quite frayed.
We shall see. Glad to hear you got through you're anniversary without
problems. Congratulations.

My customers that followed the advice we gave them faired without any
problems. No hitches at all. Those that did not, well, we still have not
heard from them.

The Canada-US relationship has been strained lately, but in this case, Chretien and Bush did get together by phone to discuss the situation. At least that is a positive sign. If the fault of this blackout were north of the border, that really could have been bad for the Canada-US relationship, but fortunately for us, it seems the problem started in Ohio. There are still mucho problems in the system, but with respect to the power grid, Ontario, Ohio, New York, and Michigan are all in this together.

For Ontario, power generation is a major political issue. Just this past spring, when asked about the possibility of power failures in the province, the Premier responded in the provincial legislature "we haven't had any problems in the past". Statements like that will come back to haunt the party in power during the upcoming election.

Cheers! Hans
