Well, actually....

We have a 52550 telenet server (not line mdoe, page mode) 
on wintel and it seems pretty fast.

That's not running RPG, but there are people run baby/400 (If 
I am remembering the right product) on PCs and unix boxes, and 
I don't hear any complaints about the speed. Maybe someone else has.

IBM doesn't price the 400 against PCs and other processors. They 
price it versus other models in the same line, and against 
historical prices for the 400.
