I don't know anything about UDF's.  Are these the SQL version of RPG
procedures referenced as functions?

Isn't that the sort of thing UDFs are for?  As I recall, a UDF can be used
much like a BIF within a SQL statement.  I haven't tried it, so I may be
wrong in my assumptions... <g>
