I know two of them were making a lot of money and took big pay cuts to get back
into the work force. Then again they had many years experience on me. I'm
sure I'll never make the Windows-related money, but I think I'm a little more
secure. Plus, I hope I don't jinx it, but I don't see a whole lot of off-shore
AS/400 work going on.

The pay, Mike? May we ask if they make more money than you, the same, or
less? Are any of them thinking of changing platforms?

I agree with your point about not really getting what you want by asking the
question here, but I think you'll get less of an honest, informed answer
other places. I know from my experience that all of my Windows-related
programming buddies turn their nose up at the AS/400 and are ignorant about
it. I've said it many times before that when I went back to school to learn
the AS/400 they all, every one of them, told me the 400 was dead and I was
wasting my time, if they'd even heard about the 400. Well in the past 5
years I'm the only one of them who's been employed every single day!

It's a darn shame IBM hasn't invested the money into showing off their prize.
Even Mercedes runs commercials!
