Joe:
Mapquest (as well as many other websites) have wireless or mobile versions.
On my Treo I can go to the wireless web site of Mapquest with the Blazer
browser and get directions. It works great! Mapquest also has a .pqa app
that is a web clipping app for the wireless Palm devices. It is a small
program that runs on the Palm that interfaces with the "real" web site.

While I agree with you, for real work, I want my laptop with my wireless
Novatel (Sprint) card on their vision network, but the Treo is great for
time when I don't what to carry the laptop. Last week I went to NY and
Boston on Thurs and Friday and had no need for the laptop. On the Treo I
could get my mail (and reply), get text message and do IM, and log onto my
400s at the office to look at and solve a few problems. I wouldn't want to
write code on it, but it sure beats traveling heavy for some trips!

It probably saved us a missed flight in LA - we were lost in West Hollywood
with 45 minutes to get to the airport, and MapQuest saved the day <smile>.
I'm not sure how well I'd have been able to use MapQuest on a Palm, but then
again I'm when it comes to handhelds I'm something of a Luddite. Didn't
even get a cellphone until 2001 <grin>.
