We have cloned some of our batch processes using our test libraries. We run a complete invoicing cycle in a set of test libraries. This runs automatically using Help Systems' ROBOT scheduler.

The output queues for the application in question live in the data library of the application. In test, output queues of the same name live in the test library, so there's a reduced risk of contamination. At least one group of programs forces the output to a non-production library (yes, we did have a leak at one time).

Paul - did I read that you use live data for testing? Apart from
possible data protection legislation (I assume that you have that in the
USA?) there is always the possibility that the orders could get through
to the factory for picking. If the data is scrambled then it satisfies
both the conditions to avoid being carried through by picking and also
doesn't include any real customer information.

I'm glad to see you test batch jobs - but is this all done manually?
