I think I know what you mean.

You probably don't mean
CHGOWN OBJ('/mydir/*') NEWOWN(newown)
While that beats he!! out of CHGOBJOWN, it doesn't get subdirectory data. 
That's probably what you meant by recursion.

How would I go about recursively changing the authority/owner for all
objects in a IFS directory? Is there an IBM delivered program that would 
do
this?
