It sounds as though your customer is considering a model upgrade, like
720 -> 810 (or something like that) and is wondering whether their
existing IOP can be migrated.  Is that the case?

The upgrade configuration process, assuming that they're going through an
authorized IBM channel, should not allow unsupported hardware in the
final configuration.  If you are concerned that the hardware would be
allowed but that your customer might experience a performance penalty,
give the source and target models as well as the feature code of the IOP
in question, and I'm sure someone will have an opinion.
