Without knowing more details, it might be hard to say. Maybe all you need to 
add is an OPNDBF specifying OPTION(*ALL). This can cause the initial open to be 
in a mode that allows updating by later programs that are attempting to share 
the open data path. It's been a long time since I've seen this used.
