It sounds like you have a program which does commitment control.  CC
required before and after images, and if you're not doing both, changes
journaling on the fly from *AFTER to *BOTH.

Unfortunately, the only way to change is to ENDJRNPF and then re-STRJRNPF.
ENDJRNPF requires an exclusive lock on the PF and all associated LF
objects.  It has been an outstanding requirement with IBM to make changing
from one mode to the other easier.
