Our UPS has a LAN connection and automatically sends an e-mail when a power
failure is detected.  We send it to a distribution list on our mail server
of which we have 3 pagers and 2 cell phones.  I would check with your UPS
vender to see what they offer.  We are running a large Powerware UPS with
BEST/Link software.  Windows 2000 has built in ups monitoring software if
your UPS has a serial communication port.  You can also set a system value
on your AS400 to re-IPL upon power restore.
