Ok how can one tell if their IFS was converted to *TYPE2 at V5R1? If it is
not Converted, what is the API to call to convert it? Where is the
documentation about converting your IFS to a *TYPE2 so I can see the
cost/benefits?

Yes, you can convert at V5R1 or V5R2 and you do *not* have to do
it as part of the upgrade to V5R2.

This is very poorly worded (and I'm not sure I can do a lot
better). How about ..... In a future release, IBM *may* decide
to discontinue support of TYPE1 and you will be forced to convert
during the release upgrade process (meaning the upgrade will take
longer). To avoid this extended outage, IBM recommends you
perform the conversion at your earliest convenience.
