Graphics 5250 was available via DOS PC Support and I think DOS Client Access. 
None of the PCs I ran it on were "expensive", though XGA may indeed have been 
needed. It always worked on every PC I was issued in small city government 
offices and state offices and no additional expense was ever needed.

Of course, at the time, even "inexpensive" PCs were expensive by today's 
standard. Now, a physical graphics terminal is a different question; but 
graphics terminals for Unix weren't cheap either, at the time.

The point is that graphics capability was indeed a part of AS/400s and now I'm 
not sure it can even be purchased even though today's PCs should have no 
problem rendering the output and something like a network station ought to be a 
breeze.
