It has been a long time since I have looked at any COBOL, but I seem to
remember an input/output sort thing.  Would that apply to all platforms
("generic" COBOL) or was it just an AS400 thing?

built around that to make it all work on each platform. Therefore, my
requirements are fairly stringent. Something as seemingly simply as
allowing the COBOL to read an LF would require a major change at the
"base" code level that would need to be pulled into every product. Just
the necessary QA to make that happen is significant if PD can be
convinced that it's important.
