Just to clarify: There are different types of apnea. Some are caused by obstructions in the breathing passages, others are neurological. The former can be helped with surgery with around a 30-50% success rate (depending on which doctor you talk to). Weight loss can also help in those cases (which is usually a side effect of the surgery anyways).
