I think you're going to have to create a "wrapper procedure" in RPG to
convert from the character data type to the ISO date data type.

Just a simple subprocedure in RPG that accepts a 10A parameter, converts
it to an ISO date.   Then it calls your existing procedure.  Should take
10 minutes to write.
