Just a couple of questions, Jim...

Can you share the business goal with us?  Is the idea to become "platform
independent"?  Are you moving off of the iSeries?  What are you going to
replace the 5250 interface with?  How about the database?  It's a completely
different project to use an ISAM database and charcter-based terminal access
than it is to go pure JDBC and thick client than it is to go EJB and browser
based.

In any case, you might really want to talk to someone from Intentia to find
out how long it took them, even using a conversion approach, to get their
package working in Java.  It's not been smooth nor easy nor quick.
