Pat, what version of OS/400 are they on? What Windows version?

NetServer is available on all recent OS400 versions - this is Windows networking and file sharing. No Client Access needed. Once installed and active, a file share is created on the 400, just as in Windows. This is then available to anyone with Windows - they can open files in IFS directly into Excel, e.g.

CPYTOIMPF is very nice for this kind of thing.

If the Windows version is NT or 2000 (or XP?), then you may be able to use QNTC file system on the 400. Eric DeLong had a post today, about using a generic profile on the Windows box that is swapped to on the 400 - minimizes authentication issues. The advantage of QNTC is, you use the IMPF commands to put the result directly on the Windows box, to a file share on that box (Windows file sharing, again).

No need for ETU, either.

I need to get a file over to a spread sheet(Excel) and I
was wondering if I could use one of the cpytoimpf commands
to at least get me a comma delimted file and then figure out
how to get the resulting file over to the pc.

I have never used the cpytoimpf or the cpyfrmimpf commands
but they both appear to hold some promise for this sort of
thing.

ETU will do the file transfer but I need to get the file in
a spread sheet friendly format like CVS.
