When someone asks how long you've worked with DB2, I believe they do NOT mean S/38 - AS/400 - iSeries database. DB2, in most eyes, means mainframe - Unix - Windows platforms and versions, and there is much in these that is not at all part of iSeries DB2 - including lots of setup and tuning knobs that we know nothing about. iSeries does a lot of this tuning on its own, and we don't get the opportunity to do anything about it - one of its selling points, BTW. But also a limitation in some eyes. How fast can you learn something after bluffing your way in? ;-)

So the question is, what does the inquirer mean? Are they interested in management & configuration of a DB2 database? Then you probably should NOT include iSeries experience. If they mean using SQL, then use any SQL experience you have on iSeries. But even there, the interface is different, I believe, so there's a learning curve again.

I agree that giving this name to the DB already extant on S/38 and its descendants, resulted only in great confusion. It was, IMO, a purely political and marketing ploy. Before, the S/38, etc., DB was known as the database without a name.

Nonetheless, the SQL implementation is probably more compliant than the other flavors of DB2, according to IBM's site.

Thanks to all that responded. As I am in the job market (and not having much luck) I am often asked if and how long I have worked with DB2. Now, I know the answer!
