Eric, Frank,

 The official word that I got from Jon Paris was that it was created w/
good intentions (in order for disparate jobs to be able to share some
resources), but as they began to use it, many problems showed up that were
not resolved.  The final word: Don't bother with it - it's not stable and
should not be used.

 If this info is outdated, then I would like to know that details of how
and when to use it, since it could have some interesting posibilities.
