A quick look through the ILE COBOL Reference manual (available on-line and 
in softcopy) would show you Intrinsic Functions which are similar to RPG 
Built-In Functions. You'll find date functions similar to RPG support and a 
heap of other interesting stuff also. The manual has examples too!
