Rob, we do this at V5R1 - you can specify the home directory in the user profile. You also need to say NAMEFMT(*PATH) in CHGFTPA. I assume you could specify a library, using path name.

CAVEAT: This puts you into NAMEFMT 1 automatically, and you can't change to NAMEFMT 0 until you CD to a library, using its path name format.

This way you don't need an exit program to change this based on a profile. But if you have other criteria, you'd need that exit program.
