As a stop gap measure, we are using Google's custom search engine service.

We have SYS36 environment which we start by STRS36.  We can then use a '*' that 
brings us to   'System/36 Command Entry'  to get a list of all previous 
commands.  We then take F9 to retrive(redo) previous commands.  Just need to 
step back..
