Well, folks...  My recollection is THAT right THERE is the supposed
"advantage" of cross-platform solutions.

IBM SAA (Systems Application Architecture) conventions came as a compromise
of S/38 conventions for the sake of getting-along with other platforms.

SOMEtimes it works out well...  Other times.. NOT so well......... (As in
these cases.)-;
