IBM HARDWARE AND SOFTWARE TELEPHONE SUPPORT - PHONE NUMBER SIMPLIFICATION

Our customers have told us repeatedly that a single support phone number
would simplify access into our support structure. As a result of these
suggestions and our commitment to customer satisfaction, IBM is pleased
to
announce a consolidation of its Hardware (1-800-IBM-SERV) and Software
(1-800-237-5511) support access numbers. Effective October 15, 2002,
1-800-IBM-SERV (1-800-426-7378) has been designated as the single point
of
contact number for both hardware and software support calls.

In addition to this consolidation, access to software support has been
significantly simplified. Specifically, this new number streamlines the
support process by reducing the numerous software support options to two.
The hardware maintenance process remains the same.

To help ensure a smooth transition while encouraging the use of
1-800-IBM-SERV for support calls, the current toll-free number for IBM's
Software Support, 1-800-237-5511, will remain active with a notification
message. 1-800-237-5511 will be discontinued within twelve months when it
is anticipated that ample transition will have occurred.

You will see many benefits to this telephone simplification including:
Improvement in first voice response time
Simplified phone menu
Reduced customer transfer
Single point-of-access for technical support
