The Code/400 product is written in C and will not run on Linux (unless it
works with Wine or some other emulator).

The V5R2 version of the tools comes with a new product called WDSc that is
mostly Java. However, it too includes some native Windows code and IBM
does not yet offer a Linux version. They are working to rewrite more and
more of the pieces in Java so hopefully a future version will support
Linux.

The base product, Eclipse, runs on Linux and depending on what you want to
do there may be plugins available for Linux. Check www.eclipse.org.

I am using Code from the V5R1 release of OS/400 WDS software.
If this will run under Linux - do you know how I can get started?
The first problem - how do I install it?
Thanks
Syd

Do not confuse the older CODE400, which was originally written
for OS/2 (in C or C++) and ported to Windoze, with newer stuff, like the
Eclipse based WDSc, which is 100% Java and yes it does
run on Linux, Macs, etc. :-)
Of course, bear in mind that you need a "beefy" PC with 1GHz+
processor and 1GB of RAM to allow this monster to really "shine"
(due to the overhead of the Java virtual machine...)

Does anybody know if Code400 will run under Linux?
Code looks like it may have been created in Java, if so, it should be
able to run under Linux?
Thanks in advance
