Sometimes there's 53 Fridays in a year.  His solution lies somewhere in the
7-day week.  Thats the only consistent rule.

A flip-flop flag seems the right answer to me.

Worries over tripping on the wire and unplugging the machine seem...
quixotic at best.  If tripping over the wire is that major an issue then his
problems go far beyond this bi-weekly job.  I am not making light of the
axe-on-the-wire problem but my gracious, they must have a better plan in
place than relying on their programmers to always "get it right."

But if you do the math. There are 52 Fridays in a year, If you go 2 Fridays
a month that is 24 Fridays. Well, 52/2 is 26, so you are missing two
Fridays.
