I see a lot of confusion in this thread.
It used to be 2 database catalogs in the AS/400-iSeries:
The OS version in QSYS (PFs/LFs named QADB*)
The SQL version in QSYS2 (mostly SQL views on the QADB* files, some
additionals SQL tables, named SYS*).

In V5R2, it has been added 2 new catalogs:
The JDBC/ODBC version in SYSIBM (mostly SQL views on the QSYS2 SQL views,
some additional tables, named SQL*)
The ANS/ISO version in QSYS2 and SYSIBM (SQL views, named with no specific
prefix, like TABLES, COLUMNS, ...and so on, and 3 SQL tables (SQL_FEATURES,
SQL_LANGUAGES and SQL_SIZING)).

Be careful, most of the SQL views/tables have 2 names (SQL name and System
name).
