Don, I am running Excel 97 and when I downloaded the file and created it
with a CSV extension it placed the X on the icon and also opened it in excel
with a prompt.

We have Excel 97 here. It prompts for CSV files as I just confirmed by
creating one using Client Access and opening it with Excel.

By the way, I may have an option that didn't occur to me before. We do have
a V4R5 production machine. I can send the file to that box and convert the
format from there. Does that give me any better options?

Which version of Office are you running?

I've found that Office2000 and OfficeXP Excel happily reads CSV files
without prompting.
