I've never been in your situation before.  With RAID, it is very likely
that you do not have the same configuration as you had previously.
Different drives might have parity striping, or you may have striping
across eight drives instead of four (or vice versa).  Any one of these
circumstances could cause an individual drive to have less capacity than
its predecessor.

If I understand your situation aright, your best alternative is to turn
off RAID, do the restore, then turn it back on.  I was not aware that
you could change capacities as long as the new drive was larger.  If
this advice from IBM is accurate, then you could quickly remove RAID and
move forward.  I would try to get confirmation of that advice before
proceeding.
