Dear Steven,

I have accomplished this task in the past by creating an OS/400 based
printer device description that printed to a printer defined on the IFS
within the same machine. The IFS took care of the Windows permissions issues
to deliver the data to the remote site.

With Windows 2000 and Xp or a Unix/Linux server running the Common Unix
Printing System (CUPS), you have the option to deliver the print file to the
remote site using the Internet Printing Protocol (IPP) which runs on top of
the HTTP 1.1 transport protocol. This use of HTTP for transport helps IPP
encapsulated spool files traverse the things IP'y quite well.

So far, OS/400 can only act as a receiver of spool files that are being
transported via IPP. Maybe it will gain an ability in V5R2 to send using IPP
as well.

HTH

Best Regards,

/Paul
