This information may not pertain to your newer hardware but its worth
looking at.  As I recall, the communications resources showed up on the
older machines as generic ports until they actually had a cable attached
and the hardware was cycled.  Is this the first time you have attached a
cable to this port?

If it is, perhaps you could use the service tools to bring down the card
and bring it back up again.

Also, what kind of cable are you using?  Did it come with the 820?
