I would ask the question what is the likely hood that you might need 9 or
10, instead of eight in the future. And look at the price IBM charges for
these cables and see if it might not pay to keep a couple. Also look on
E-bay at AS/400 cables. I have seen some go for prices I think is pretty
high. But even if they go for a $1 plus shipping it keeps them out of the
landfill.  You could pull one out and take a picture and put it on e-bay,
with a minimum bid (for the lot of cables) that your boss thinks is worth
pulling them out of the floor, if someone bids pull them, if not cut them.
Also the A/B switches probably will work for PC's. If they are just 25 pin
connections they might be able to be used for PC printers, modems, etc.
