Jim,

You really have not given us enough background on the design here an
I guess my first question is what role do the PC servers play ? The second
question would be what is the database on the PC servers, is it flat ASCII
or is it Relational, (UDB/2, MS -SQL, Oracle, ect).. The next question I
guess would be why are the PC servers there at all, you say it's a Wireless
Network but not what kind. A standard CISCO Aironet 802.11B could be linking
a Radio Device to the iSeries just as easily as the PC while a Private Radio
System like SmartNet or EDACS have other issues in terms of the interface
protocol.

Anyway, if this were my headache I would look at:

NFS -- Export the PC Disk and then do an IMPORT on the iSeries. Now
the disk is available on the iSeies to be properly opened.

Integrated xSeries or HLS to xSeries with shared iSeries DASD, again
now the disk is available natively to the iSeries to be properly opened.

If the PC is running a relation engine like UDB/2 maybe you have a
remote journal or other feature that can do this..

MQSeries - Have the application provider place a transaction copy
into MQ for processing on the iSeries...

Home Grown Socket based Program to Program code to do what's
necessary...

DO NOT USE CAE for any of this if the providers code is doing direct
radio I/O as the interrupts and conflicts, not to mention system load, can
get you in BIG trouble from a reliability standpoint...

        Good Luck,
        JMS..
