Is this because you believe that it calculates this on every row? If so,
this program shouldn't retrieve many rows.

The problem with using a rpg date is when do you set the value? Right
before each SQL statement? I don't want to run into the same problems I
am having with *JOB and *SYS.

If you're doing this as embedded SQL in an RPG program, my personal
experience with using "CURRENT DATE" in an SQL statement is that it is
much
slower than using a date variable from the program you are using. (e.g.
if
in RPG, initialize variable TODAY to current date and then use :TODAY in
place of "CURRENT DATE").

Hey Rob

You should be able to say:

CURRENT DATE > DATE(logpwcd) + logpwei DAYS

I am trying to add days to a date in SQL. Sample application
Password last change date is logpwcd stored as a timestamp.
Password expiration interval is logpwei stored as a decimal.

Now I've got this big complex sql statement with the following in it:
(CURRENT DATE > (logpwcd+logpwei))
Evidently you can't add an integer to a timestamp. Which makes sense
because it didn't know if it was a day, seconds, or whatever.
Trying
(CURRENT DATE > (logpwcd+days(logpwei)))
hurls with SQL0171-Argument 1 of function DAYS not valid.
-- DAYS, the argument must be a date or a timestamp.
