I'm looking at the VASP library now, and see no conversion tools.
If my memory serves me, that was a separate set of programs available in 
Migration Aid.

now, dontcha think?

They wouldn't happen to have defined any of these files using IDDU for the
S/36
query did they?  It might be a better place to start.
They did, but it turns out the definitions were pre-Y2K (1989), making them
mostly useless.
