Host print transform takes care of it. You need an AFPDS printer file type.
I've done this to normal HP4 or HP5, no special adapter. Just sitting on
the network with an IP address.

http://www.printers.ibm.com/R5PSC.NSF/Web/4sample is a link to a very cool
sample of basic AFP stuff. If you want it to go faster, you need PSF/400.
However, as the site says,
